Chocolate milk at Lidl priced at par with full-fat white milk, currently around $2.50/gallon. Aldi only stocks 1/2 gallon chocolate milk at a price close to $1.85 each, resulting in a gallon cost of $3.70. They have a common dairy supplier, FWIW. Bakery was not impressive but frozen food, meat and produce selection was a step up from Aldi.
Aldi's competitive advantage over Whole Foods is its low prices. The German supermarket chain offers a wide range of private-label products that are often cheaper than comparable items at Whole Foods. Aldi also has a strong commitment to sustainability, with a goal to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030.

And the price is cheap, at A $0.89 for the same bag of bread, Kaufland (500g, A $1.50 for Coles and Woolworths (650g) and A $2.29 for Aldi (750g).
